From a single spare bedroom to one of the UK’s most revered accounting firms.

This is the Haslers story…

Our Timeline

1950s – Humble Beginnings

Haslers Accountants was founded by Harry Hasler in 1951.

For a period of almost 20 years, Harry would grow the practice  – almost single-handedly!

He was married to Jenny and they had two children, Wendy and Alan.

Along with his secretary, Vida, Harry worked from his home in Seven Kings, Ilford. In 1972, Harry was joined by Michael Gould who joined the operation as a partner. They continued to work together in a spare bedroom in Harry’s home!

Early 1970s – Moving Out

Harry was joined by Michael Gould – who joined the operation as partner.

Whilst all working at Harry’s home, Harry’s wife, Jenny would cook a hot lunch and insisted they all take a 15 minute walk before returning to work!

In 1973 the group moved to a larger premises in South Woodford on the corner of St Albans Road & South Woodford High Road. They were joined by Olga Hardcastle and Janet Paternoster. The office was approx. 600 square feet.

Late 1970s – Stanley Joins

Stanley Baskin joined Haslers as Partner in 1976. A year later the growing team moved to a refurbished butchers shop (which had stood since 1709) in Johnston Road, Woodford Green.

In 1979 the ground floor was extended and in 1980 the upper floor taking the square footage to 6,400.
